Unipower and the transport industry
The transport industry is one of Unipower's major customers - because they require and employ all the functions offered by the Unipower Multi-Function units.
The financial success of Transport companies is largely dependent upon the reliability of the trucks and the speed with which they can service a truck that has broken down. The Unipower system is, therefore, a very valuable working tool for such companies.
Welding:
Trucks do take considerable strain - particularly over bad roads, and the result can often be broken springs and cracked frames. The ability of the Unipower system to weld upto 300 amperes employing high frequency technology with reverse polarity and even aluminium facilities, are features much sought after by these companies. Because the Unipower system is compact, light, and only requires 13HP to operate, it can easily be installed into small pick-ups - thus cutting down on travelling costs for the service department.
Generator:
The transport industry employs both lights for night work, and the plug output for operating various tools required for emergency repair or maintenance work in the field. Compressors, steam cleaners and pumps can also be run of the Unipower system.
Battery charging:
Trucks are often required to be jump-started due to their having flat batteries.
The Unipower, with its ability to boost charge and assist start both 12 and 24V systems is an ideal solution for these applications. The 'tapering' charge ensures that the batteries are not damaged during this process, thus extending battery life. By doing away with 'slave' batteries, the Unipower is able to offer an instant charging facility right through the day. Once the engine is running, the Unipower is ready to work.
Features & benefits:
Overleaf are listed the features and benefits that the Unipower system offers over conventional equipment frequently employed by service departments of transport companies.
Accessories:
The product range includes high charge alternators, booster regulators for low RPM work, and battery splitters with charge equalizer capability. Each of these products is of interest to the transport industry.
