Unipower and the plant hire industry

The Plant Hire Industry is reliant on 3 primary factors:

1.           The rates it obtains for its plant;
2.           The utilization of its equipment;  and
3.           The running costs thereof.

It is therefore vital to the profitability of any Plant Hire concern that downtime is kept to a minimum, as this impacts directly on the profitability of the plant.  In this regard, the role of the field service technician, is paramount.  It is essential, when the mechanic arrives on site, that he has the necessary tools and equipment to complete the job on hand.  The average plant hire company cannot afford, or justify, having each service vehicle permanently equipped with a Generator, Welder, Boost charging and assist Starting equipment (the most commonly required items). The cost of such a fleet would be prohibitive and, in addition, there would be a subsequent increase in fuel, tyres, transmission and brake wear, due to the continuous load of around 300 kilogram that this would entail.

There would also be a permanent loss of much-needed space and the danger of theft would also be a consideration.  As a result, the mechanic frequently finds that he has to return to the yard to pick up a welder, generator or slave batteries, to complete his job.  This incurs a double cost to the plant hire concern.
The first, is the unproductive time and vehicle costs that the mechanic incurs as a direct result of his travels to and from the yard.
The second - and even greater cost, is the downtime of the machine  or equipment whilst it awaits these repairs.

It is in this area that Unipower offers considerable savings.

The advantages of having all of these facilities installed as a small, mobile kit, whilst only incurring an extra 2 kilogram of weight, is the reason so many plant hire companies are installing UNIPOWER onto their field service vehicles.

These features cost only a fraction of the cost of conventional equipment whilst always being available to the mechanic whenever he leaves the yard.

The many customer benefits these features offer are detailed on the reverse side.
